The primary theoretical orientation used is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. Our cognitive beliefs or thought processing in our lives at times creates irrational, unhealthy thinking. these irrational thoughts can cause unwanted behaviors. Both how we think and how we behave during certain situations will be addressed through this therapy.
Play Therapy is utilized with children and adolescents when appropriate. However, adults often enjoy engaging their children in meaningful play. Play is a univeral language that allows counselors and parents to understand and help children and adolescents who have difficulty expressing themselves through words alone. Family systemic issues are addressed through family meetings.
Humor is prized as a healing agent. At times stress management and imagery are warranted and will be taught. Each client is assessed and as therapy develops other therapies and techniques are utilized on an individualized needs basis.
