Counseling with Nina
Together we can manage emotional issues such as:
Theoretical Orientations
The primary theoretical orientation used is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprosessing (EMDR) Therapy. Our cognitive beliefs or thought processing in our lives at times creates irrational, unhealthy thinking. these irrational thoughts can cause unwanted behaviors. Both how we think and how we behave during certain situations will be addressed through this therapy. EMDR Therapy can be used for various issues but was originally a trauma therapy. The Anxiety Support Group meets every Thursday night from 7:00-8:30.
Play Therapy is utilized with children and adolescents when appropriate. However, adults often enjoy engaging their children in meaningful play. Play is a universal language that allows counselors and parents to understand and help children and adolescents who have difficulty expressing themselves through words alone. Family systemic issues are addressed through family meetings.
Humor is prized as a healing agent. Often stress management and imagery are warranted and will be taught. Each client is assessed and as therapy develops other therapies and techniques are utilized on an individualized needs basis.
